Disney Wonder
Disney Cruise Line Improves the Disney Wonder

Disney WonderDisney Cruise Line overhauled its Disney Wonder ship during two weeks of dry dock in October, 2006, a renovation that Disney hopes will spur further interest in the ship. The seven-year-old Disney Wonder underwent four major renovations, which addressed the needs of both the young and old, keeping the ship "fresh and new". A 385-square-foot water/play pool, specifically designed for toddlers was installed in the shape of Mickey Mouses's sorcerer hat from the Disney movie Fantasia.

While a Disney cruise is known to attract families, 33 percent of Disney guests embark without children. To address that, Disney doubled the size of Disney Wonder's Vista Spa and Salon and renovated its Quiet Cove adult pool, replete with waterfalls and a new teak deck. New spa treatment suites with private hot tubs and verandahs were designed for couples, and 1,700 square feet was added to the fitness center, upping the spa's total square footage to 10,700.

Disney expressed the importance of keeping the ship segmented, allowing both children, parents and couples the flexibility to engage in separate activities in age-appropriate settings. Yet, one new enhancement aboard the Disney Wonder will be welcomed by the young and old alike: New on deck nine is a 24-by-14 foot LED screen, which will show disney movies, sporting events and various other TV programs.

Passengers on Disney Wonder will experience new comforts, more options for adults, children and families, and further enhance the personalized vacation experience Disney Cruise Line is known for providing its guests.
