Carnival Fantasy
Carnival Cruise Lines operates the only year-round cruise from Mobile and is replacing the 1,452 passenger Holiday ship with the 2,056 passenger Carnival Fantasy increasing capacity at the Mobile port by 42 percent.
The Carnival Fantasy will operate year-round four and five day cruises beginning in November 2009. Annually this will be about 170,000 passengers cruising from Mobile.
The Carnival Fantasy "Fun Ship" cruise will offer a few exciting new features with the larger cruise ship. The Carnival Fantasy will undergo an extended dry dock period that will add such features as the Carnival WaterWorks aqua park, Serenity adults-only retreat and a new resort-style pool area for guests to enjoy.
Carnival Fantasy Upgrades
The 70,000-ton Carnival Fantasy’s upgrades are part of an extensive renovation this fall that is a $250 million “Evolutions of Fun” refurbishment program for Carnival's eight Fantasy-class ships. The makeover includes the new Carnival WaterWorks aqua park that features a 300 foot-long corkscrew water slide, dual-lane 82-foot-long racing slides and various water spray activities.
The Serenity is an adults-only retreat that features plush chaise lounges, oversized umbrellas, teak decking and two whirlpools. The "resort style" main pool offers a tropical theme with thatched roofs, faux palm trees, colorful umbrellas and a unique tiled "beach" that borders the pool.
On the Carnival Fantasy there will be 12 themed lounges and bars, a nine-hole miniature golf course, a 12,000-square-foot Spa Carnival facility, three restaurants, full casino gambling, a comprehensive golf program and organized programs for children in three different age groups – “Camp Carnival” for youngsters, “Circle C” for 12- to 14-year olds, and “Club O2” for older teens.
Carnival Fantasy provides a variety of staterooms and suites that feature the “Carnival Comfort Bed” sleep system with plush mattresses, luxurious duvets and high quality linens and pillows. Ship-wide Wi-Fi access and cell phone service are also available.
